WL//WH Video Of The Day: NO FILTER “Black Leather Jacket”

Video Of The Day  NO FILTER

French gritty and dark Coldwave / Post-Punk band based in Voiron, No Filter, devotees to the ‘death cult of raw music’, return, after getting noticed with a debut EP “An Otherside” in early 2018, with the clamorous new single, “Black Leather Jacket”, taken from the upcoming French language debut album scheduled to be released at the end of the year, paired with a symbolic DIY music video.

Nightmarish lyrics follow a lost soul through a toxic landscape where culture and architecture lie in a rotting state of decay to invoke discomforting feelings of dread, melancholy, and death.

Imbued with gloomy and ominous oppressive urgency, “Black Leather Jacket” injects buzzing swarms, and wistful melodies, fueled by hard-hitting ritual drum beats around haunted raucous screams of anguish, trying desperately to survive, amid obsessive cutting and jagged riffs, spastic hits, and rapid throbbing punchy bass lines, shredding anger and frustration from lost howls and unheard echoes into a steadily rising edge of rebellion.

The gripping black and white visuals strive to answer questions about the current dystopic state of world affairs using a vintage lens of our ancestors’ struggle. Retro 60s clips cast overcrowded dancefloors, chrome-tinted motorcycles, and brawling street shenanigans in groovy long-lost fashions to bring forth the essence of a tumultuous era ready to revolt through kinetic aggression. An evocative transference of multi-generational archetypes cycles through tensions of civil unrest to sync with the chaotic vibes of the soundtrack whilst also shining a light on the human response to a global atmosphere of impending emergencies.
