No is the Canadian Minimal Wave/Post Punk project of Antonio Pavao Pereira from Montréal, who drops an Official Video for “Drive Faster”, an intriguing sneak preview of the forthcoming new LP scheduled for next winter via TONN Recordings.
A fallen couple revel in each other’s destructive behaviour through a relentless, quivering rush of dire, anxious glowing brassy synth pulsations, skittering drum programming, crackling crisp claps, and distant but treacherous bass lines that underlie restless, guilty baritone vocals, releasing pain and helplessness, with a droning and frenetic layer of nervous yet thrilling danger.
The Official Video places a red light filter over symbolic stream-of-consciousness imagery to bring forth the dark romance of the soundtrack. An evocative performance by a sunglasses clad No shuffles with ‘out of control’ highway footage and shadowy glimpses of a beautiful lover whilst strategic editing fuses the couple into one shapeshifting amalgam, giving the viewer an inside look into the confusion and chaos of a boundary-less union.
