The cult Parisian duo Morthem Vlade Art are back, after a long hiatus of almost 14 years, also announcing the forthcoming new album “In the Blue Plains of Paradise” due out 3rd September, 2018 on Infrastition.
Last spring renewed activity around the band’s Facebook page and their own Antonn Records, home of Greg Anthe‘s side projects HNN and In Broken English, could suggest hope for anything new and here is the exciting reality.
Since conception in 1995, Emamanuell D and Greg Anthe under the Morthem Vlade Art moniker, have always preserved their own identity and show their masterful and infectious song craft, while constantly moving and evolving across different styles, from the guitar deathrock and darkwave of the early days of their debut “Herbo Dou Diable” to the early 2000’s minimal and ambient electronica of “Antechamber” and “Photography In Things”, since the return to the more rhythmic goth electro-pop of the last album “Absente Terebenthine” in 2004.
Since conception in 1995, Emamanuell D and Greg Anthe under the Morthem Vlade Art moniker, have always preserved their own identity and show their masterful and infectious song craft, while constantly moving and evolving across different styles, from the guitar-driven goth rock and darkwave of their debut “Herbo Dou Diable” to the early 2000’s minimal and ambient electronica of “Antechamber” and “Photography In Things”, until the return to a more rhythmic goth-tinged electro-pop of the last album “Absente Terebenthine” in 2004.
“His Striped Suit” blends new wave and synthpop with rare subtlety and elegance together with their distinctive flair for the experimental. Made of crashing beats, soaring arpeggios, flowing harmonies and harrowing synths, emotionally powered by the superb evocative Greg’s vocals. Channelling in an hazy and immersive slow pace that builds into an hypnotic swell of emotion and longing laced with dread , helplessness and disaffection for a bored, repetitive, unemotional life.
Couldn’t have wished for better intriguing and enticing return.
Check out the haunting and shadowy visuals directed by Yannick Dangin Leconte, where a man eternally doomed to walk through the maze of geometric figures with a predator type night vision which fails to produce the exit of his disillusioned existence.
Keep up with Morthem Vlade Art :
I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative
and interesting, and without a doubt, you have hit the
nail on the head. The issue is an issue that not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy I found this during my search for something relating
