On November 27 Melbourne’s shoegazers Miniatures published their new official video for Honey, taken from their latest Jessamines LP released on October 6th by Saint Marie Records (USA). Miniatures are not a new name in the shoegaze universe, they have released two EP’s and a single within two years and they moved from New Zealand to Australia where Zealanders Che Walden and Annemarie Duff met with bassist Chris MacLean from the Land Down Under and added him in the band. Actually Jessamines is their first long play, and it’s no secret that dedicated shoegazers all over the world where waiting for it and their patience was rewarded with an excellent release of 11 tracks that keep the Ride/Slowdive banner high! Miniatures blend their sound with quite a lot of fuzz and dreamgaze “spices” as their trademark sound, and their effort is worth of listening as they put one more “gate” on the shoegaze rock canvas, waiting for you to open it and discover their solid soundscapes. Honey is the best example on their music, very nice vocals, dreamy guitars, and fuzz-yes fuzz man! Layering rich tones, beautiful textures, cascading melodies and Annemarie‘s vocals, Miniatures build soundscapes that rise and fall like the ocean tide. I like the arrangements in the whole LP too, colorful and solid, a really good record it is, and the video is directed by Julian Vares!
Keep Up With Miniatures
