Video Of The Day Margaritas Podridas
Hermosillo, Mexico’s grungey shoegaze 4-piece band, Margaritas Podridas, made of Carolina Enríquez (Bass and vocals,) Esli Meuly (Guitar and vocals,) Rafael Armenta (Guitar, drums, and synthesizer,) and Alfonso López (Guitar, drums and vocals), celebrate the release of their Self/Titled debut album, “Margaritas Podridas“, produced by Sebastian Neyra (Mint Field, Sonic Emerson), with a psychological video, directed by Karl Neudert & Margaritas Podridas, for the hypnotic shoegazing track “Púrpura” (Purple).
Shimmering, abrasive auras fuse thin barbed, prickling guitar riffs and rusty, excruciating grinds with low ominous bass lines, and subdued, dragging drum beats to form a hectic mist of reverb strewn noise around gritty, compelling female vocals, rising and falling from numb, drowsy narcotic slurs to harsh squealing emotional pain to release hopeless fears into/from the uncertainty of existential, organic hopes.
Alternate dimensions blend raucous, aloof, broken-down baby doll poses with a psychedelic stream of guitar strums to form a subconscious frenzy of unexplained doubt. Depth-defying images cast PIP fragments smeared in red lipstick stained hands into obsessive guilt, removing tendencies to build learned helplessness from the spoils of shame. Black, chain link bondage alternates with a dreamy white bedroom set, to clash good vs evil amidst the distressing transition scene’s paranoid enticements. Downtrodden trips overlaid in twirling fairy dust time-lapse superhuman abilities from parallel planes of thought into a sped-up fury, while lost souls search through shattered reflections of crushed dreams under a sunless haze of empty disconnections.
