Yesterday, in a day with very few decent videos, I stumbled by accident across the visuals of the new single from, at least for me, unknown Brazilian band called Mannequin Trees and immediately became my pop obsession of the day.
The four-piece, actually the psych-pop project of guitarist/singer/songwriter Ícaro Reis from the Sergipe state, is going to realease their debut EP for São Paulo’s Balaclava Records.
‘A Little Closer‘ is an irresistible, soulful, cosmic, chilly, laid-back aural delight feeded by addictive groovy synthetic bass lines, luxurious and utterly infectious enveloping waves of synth, and a smooth dreamy voice floating above, with hints of Tame Impala and Beach Boys, but with its unique esotic and alluring feel coupled with an enviable killer sense of melodic hooks that pulls you into a sultry and lush psychedelic dream you would never end.
