Bremen, Germany Shoegaze/Post Punk trio Makimono returns in the new year to build anticipation for a possible forthcoming debut EP with a video by Lennart Bendixen for their atmospheric, edgy and electrifying fourth single “Dusk.”
“Dusk” is a song about a person aching to be set free from an oppressive force, viscerally epitomised by urgent ringing guitar melodies laced with pain-fueled obsessive wanderings, reverberating with frantic piercing intensity atop a misty tumultuous rush of droning throbbing bass lines and shuffling drum beats, to enshroud ghostly vocals, shifting into angsty spoken words, with abrasive sways of detached dimensions.
A really cool visual tapestry by Lennart Bendixen showcases Makimono playing instruments with laser focus to sync with the unstoppable flow of the soundtrack. Black and white imagery, permeated by vibrant prismatic sun rays along with strategic overlays and suggestive outdoor flows, brings forth a positive feeling of life, breaking free from a monochromatic vision.
