WL//WH Video Of The Day: MADMOIZEL “All of You” (Volcan Shade Mix)

Video Of The Day Madmoizel & Volcan

Starting his creative pathway in 2012, Volcan, the alias of Bordeaux-based synthesist and live performer Greg Vezon, whose imaginative production oscillates between Ambient, Minimal & Cold Electronica, drops a DIY video with effects by well instructed machines for the Volcan Shade Mix of “All Of You”, the recently released single by the Parisian classically trained composer, performer, and producer Madmoizel.

The “Volcan Shade Mix” is a gripping atmospheric downtempo take, not as severe, icy, and haunting as Madmoizel’s original, to spin an equally compelling and emotionally charged narrative, sharpening the industrial-dusted, stiff and clanking rhythmic patterns while layering chilly synth flows, and in the latter part, shivering, tinkly melancholic chord loops, to slowly submerge the powerful vocals until they become ghostlike, less commanding, and finally fade underneath the cathartic reiteration of clockwork machinations and evocative piercing reverberations.

The video deals with the tension between unconditional love and existential emptiness, between sincere emotion and superficial appearances. It questions our relationship with otherness, idealization, collective ritual, and what we are prepared to love, even if this “other” is inanimate, masked, or a mere reflection of ourselves.Volcan says

The DIY video by Volcan is a thought-provoking stream of consciousness with an eclectic, both modern and retro, supernatural sci-fi aesthetic. The imaginative use of symbolism, time, space, liminal perception and effects by well instructed machines brilliantly brings out the contemplation outlined in the description above in a fascinating and eerie way that syncs seamlessly with the soundtrack.
