Video Of The Day M73
Veteran Danish Electronic composer, producer, and artist John R. Mirland, behind a heap of past and present projects such as Negant, Am Tierpark, Mirland/Larsen, Eisenwolf, Holm/Mirland, Mechanical Principle, and Owl in the Woods, returns under his latest EBM / Dark Electro / Bodypop moniker M73, once again joining forces with art photographer and video artist Anna Tartaglia, this time for a suggestive video clip for “Vampire”, taken from last September’s sophomore album “Motor Romantik” via LÆBEL, the follow up to 2019’s well-received debut album “Tainted”.
“Vampire” is laced with poetic lyrics that dive into the distorted actions and counterfeit feelings of an emotional vampire, while brooding in the devastating wreckage of a victim’s heartache.
Dazzling dramatic drifts stirred by cool swirling synth swathes, surround the bleak churning groovy pulsations of a prominent bouncy bassline, underpinned by crispy percussive knocks and stumbling drum beats, whilst evocative cold monochromatic vocals deliver eerie insights into the dark and evil mind of a “Vampire.”
The disturbing video, directed by Anna Tartaglia, the third clip conceived as visual companions and interpretations of the music by M73, illustrates a psychically abusive relationship cast in symbolic poses of manipulation, fear, and hopelessness to open the inner doorways of trauma with insight and wisdom. Dangerous visions of blindfolds, puppet strings, and broken expressions alternate with deeply emotional transition scenes where vast hypnotic horizons and blood-red fantasies merge into a deadly attempt at a final escape.
M73‘s second LP, “Motor Romantik”, is available, as a limited edition CD & Digital, either directly from Bandcamp or your favorite streaming service.
