WL//WH Video Of The Day: M73 “Move On”

Video Of The Day  M73

Veteran Danish Industrial and Synth Wave composer, producer, and artist John R. Mirland, who you might know from his slew of past and present solo and collaborative projects such as Negant, Am Tierpark, Mirland/Larsen, Eisenwolf, Holm/Mirland, Mechanical Principle, and Owl in the Woods, returns under his latest ‘Body-Pop’ moniker M73, once again joining forces with art photographer and video artist Anna Tartaglia,  for a dramatic video clip of “Move On”, the first guitar-laden Darkwave single from the forthcoming third album “All Messed Up and Nowhere to Go”, via LÆBEL.

As an eternal traveler moves through life quickly and impulsively, feelings of alienation and loneliness cause a tight, relentless drift of throbbing bass lines and heavy splattering drum patterns, to nervously flow under haunted suffering vocals, swept by icy liquid synth drama and doomy abrasive guitar riffs, to create a sense of tension and release until a stark moment near the end when a metal hammer clanks as lyrics reveal:

“Talk to me, I remain the mute

No easy way to tell the truth”

Accompanied visuals by Anna Tartaglia set fast-moving urban imagery at night as the backdrop for Lina Tsavalou, a mysterious black clad woman who seems to get angry whenever her boyfriend, Stathis Theodorakis, tries to get close to her. We never see what caused the argument, but after time spent dancing at the Dark Sun Club in Athens and a symbolic array of serpentine statues, things work out and there is a happy reunion at the end.
