Relentlessly inspired by the darkness, melancholy and trance that bursts forth in the boundless dancing energy epitomized by New Order’s pivotal “Blue Monday,” Nantes, France-based, genre-bending New Wave / Post Punk outfit LOWPKIN, made of Laurent Audouin (Bass, Keyboards, Programming) Julien Brevet (Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals, Programming) and Vincent Lechevallier (Drums, Percussion), drops an Official Video by Julien Brevet himself for the new single “Buchlanov (So Lovely)”, building anticipation for a new album expected to release in a couple of months.
Exploring the oddness of how, despite global chaos, people pretend like nothing is wrong, “Buchlanov (So Lovely)” triggers a vibrant driving mid-tempo pace pulled by buzzy throbbing bass grooves and steady marching drum beats, layered with trembling wistful guitar melodies, echoing chrome-plated chords, icy rattling stabs, and hypnotizing spirals of synth loops, whilst overtly bored spoken word vocals, underlined by restless anger, persuade with unenthusiastic reiteration.
A muted neon blue/green Official Video by Julien Brevet turns sprawling urban views and up close shots of LOWPKIN performing Buchlanov (So Lovely) into a suggestive cyber disassociative realm.
