Video Of The Day LEVA
Started in 2020, LEVA is the Alternative Post Punk solo project of Bologna-based Italian musician and composer Leonardo Cannatella (former vocalist and guitarist of BeStrass and drummer of The Black Veils), who teases the brand new third album, “Adrift”, via Icy Cold Records, with a music video produced by himself with the video maker Luca Tosetto for its 6th song, “Dirt and Dust”.
Enhanced by spellbinding, shimmery atmospheric squalls of a McGeoch-like guitar work, “Dirt and Dust” is a soul-stirring song about stubbornness, quitting the world, and the mental anguish involved in admitting the mistakes of one’s past.
The track flares with icy, wistful sparkling guitar riffs that anxiously swirl over a murky backdrop of rugged gurgling bass lines, and urgent, tight drum beats, with echoing ghostly rippling shards, to drown haunted male vocals, soaring into heartfelt agonized cries, in a piercing sea of anger and regret.
Black and white visuals by Luca Tosetto set a guitar-playing Leonardo Cannatella against a cold, grey winter hillside to sync with the emotional state of the soundtrack. Intervals of unsteady camera movements, slowed-down time lapses, and an impassioned performance intriguingly convey the lyrical notion of decisions, repercussions, and finding a new path through acceptance.
