A pioneer of the synth sound, we love so much, is the Brazilian multidisciplinary artist Kodiak Bachine. He formed in 1980 the legendary São Paulo’s band Agentss considered to be the very first Brazilian electronic group.
Two years later in 1982 he composed what it’s considered the first example of techno-pop in Brazil : “Eletricidade” with the use of a Minimoog Model D, Moog Liberation, Crumar String Ensemble and Vocoder.
An innovative and avant-guardistic video-art, inspired by “Eletricidade”, was produced in 1983 by Fritz Nagib, Kodiak Bachine and Jayme Rocco Júnior.
It showed Kodiak’s reality as he perceived it, the eternal paradox of pleasure and pain lived by humans who achieve the power to be in charge of electronic remote controls and at the same time end up being controlled by them.
This video was first screened on March, 1984 at the “Carbono 14” in the city of Sao Paulo. It was awarded by different festivals including the II Festival Fotótica de Vídeo Brasil (Sao Paulo, 1984).
Kodiak Bachine’s “Eletricidade” along its re-version titled “Espírito das Máquinas” will be released as limited 10″ vinyl edition (350 copies + numbered insert with liner notes and photos) by the Polish label Mecanica on March 20, 2018.
A truly electronic classic absolutely to be rediscover.
