Video Of The Day KEYBOARDS AND RED LIPSTICK
Released during the holiday period, “Et après” is the early excerpt as well as the first ever music video by Keyboards And Red Lipstick, the French post-punk duo of Phil and Kim from Toulouse, taken from the upcoming 9-track full-length album “War Parade.”
The stark, shadowy and gloomy iconic sound of early ’80s The Cure hangs over the seamlessly haunting yet mesmerizing emotional interplay between the resonant pulses of a brooding bass line and the effect-filled, sharply melancholic guitar work, awashed in the spindly desolation of glowing synth veneers, achingly meandering with introspective female vocals, softly singing with vibrant sadness, shrouded with greyish shades of an eternal winter.
The DIY video for “Et Apres” was shot at the “Saint Ferréol” lake in France under the grey fog of winter and shows Phil and Kim walking along the shore whilst looking out at the water. They search the crushed, shell-laden terrain for rocks to throw and end up having a playful time. Then, a lively tributary next to a big cross flows with vigor amidst horses grazing in the distance, giving spiritual insight into the soundtrack.
