WL//WH Video Of The Day: KEHLE “Dies Schwert Sei Dein”

Video Of The Day   KEHLE

Troisdorf, Germany-based synth-driven Darkwave one-man band Kehle follows his late 2020 promising debut album “Stranger Sign”, with a DIY video for the dire new single “Dies Schwert Sei Dein / The Sword Be Yours.”

Chaotic, droning immersive textures driven by urgent arrhythmic snares ignite relentless muddy jerky bass swells, stacking poignant tinkly keys, and swirling dramatic synth swarms into heady obsessive moods around soft, gravelly vocal distortions, drawing anxiety and insight from a heavy world of oppression and pain.

Hypnotic DIY visuals merge past and present timelines into an eerie vision of future foreboding. A barrage of disturbing imagery quickly brings to mind the age-old adage, ‘the more things change the more they stay the same’, as vintage clips of early 1900s street disruptions in contrast with retro 70s West Germany alleged welfare, fuse with modern street riots and bomb-strewn horizons, whilst robotic flows of everyday motion seem to carry on, without notice, under a plumbing smoke bomb’s apocalyptic warning.
