WL//WH Video Of The Day: JESUS LIVES IN VEGAS “Story of You”

WL//WH Video Of The Day  JESUS LIVES IN VEGAS

Jesus Lives In Vegas, the Nancy-based, French Goth Coldwave duo of Christophe Lacroix (guitars, bass, keyboards, programming, all vocals and backing vocals) and Régis Beck (keyboards, programming), return, after two and half years, with the single “Story of You”, swerving towards synth-clad, electro-dark leanings, while retaining their distinctive cold and melancholic tones.

The first excerpt lifted from the band’s forthcoming debut studio album, “Joy or Sorrow”,  scheduled for release on October 11, 2024, via Masse Noire Records and Meidosem Records, is paired with a video clip directed by Julien Ruphy.

A dark birthday tale about escaping a perceived fate of nothingness, “Story of You” ignites a strained, adrenaline-fueled rush of sonorous brooding bass lines, alongside crisp hypnotic beats, relentlessly throbbing on a backdrop of whirring and eerie synth swirls along with dire lustrous guitar reverberations, whilst restless and restrained breathy vocals, urgently release fear and tension into hopeless choral turbulences of warped buzzing, rippling, and fragmented frequencies.

The visuals by Julien Ruphy unfold like a gritty Hollywood mystery, playing into the ‘you never really know anyone’ aspect of the soundtrack. Paul Valy and Charlotte Auberget star as the romantic couple who take an escapist ride to the seaside. What makes the clip suspenseful is the scene at the beginning, where Régis Beck plays the bartender and Christophe Lacroix, a stranger. It is the unspoken eye contact between the three that might suggest all is not as it appears. There is also a glass of sand delivered and consumed as if liquor, to foreshadow the final beach experience, that is left open to interpretation.

Jesus Lives In Vegas‘ upcoming first studio album, “Joy or Sorrow”,  is due out, in Vinyl 12″ /CD and Cassette formats, on October 11, 2024, via Masse Noire Records and Meidosem Records.
