WL//WH Video Of The Day: ISOCULT “White Noise”

Video Of The Day ISOCULT

German Post-punk / Coldwave duo based in Dortmund, Isocult, return with a moody and symbolic DIY video for the urgent and evocative new single, “White Noise.” Inspired by the isolation of last year’s lockdown, the song recreates the feeling of losing oneself in a solo mental state of “White Noise” whilst consuming media all day.

The band channels the angsty vibrant intensity of “Tears for Fears” harnessing oscillating leaden layers of flashing frequencies to encompass sparkling guitar melodies, punchy basslines, rapid rolling syncopated rhythms, and somberly eerie bright synth strains with a weighty blanket of distorted emotions whilst a hyperbolic ebb and flow of dual alternating vocals and layered falling echoes drive anxious tormented cries and nervous somber broods through a deafening numbness of government-mandated ‘white noise’.

Intoxicating visuals construct a contrasting display of dim blue lights, skewed camera angles, and blurry focuses around the concentrated, bursting energy of Isocult. Cool numb vibes stimulate the visual stream with artificial calm whilst an evocative performance transfers pent-up tensions into unbalanced feelings of subdued melancholy and angsty dread. Heavy clouds of synthetic euphoria align within a surreal time-lapsed momentum to shift sludgy shadows and inhibited moods into the restless sentiments of lyrical discomfort.
