WL//WH Video Of The Day IOANA IORGU
Ioana Iorgu, the Groningen, Netherlands-based “unsettling poetic post-punk” independent music producer, self-taught guitarist and drummer, returns to WL//WH with an Official Music Video by Veerle de Vos and Ioana Iorgu herself for the new single, “Doll House”, to set the mood for the album to come.
Plunging in slow-slung, doomy and grungey introspective alternative rock realms, “Doll House” drives heavy plodding drum beats and hypnotic pain-fueled guitar melodies under beautifully haunting atmospheric vocals that rise into tight, bitter, on the edge of seething anger resonances, whilst massive swaying riffage, rife with distorted leaden mists, finally seizes control and buries the voice in an obsessive thunder.
The Official Music Video syncs a deeply emotional performance of Ioana Iorgu performing “Doll House” with symbolic imagery to evoke the dark tragedy of the soundtrack. A black-and-white backstory shifts between a child’s playground and Veerle de Vos swimming in a pool to give insight into the heartbreak of the lyrics. Ioana’s scenes are scarily compelling and show her in different psychological states while she is both outside and in a water-filled tub. The dramatic mood switches between darting, murderous eyes and broken, fragile helplessness to stir the soul with melancholy, terror, and compassion.
Keep up with Ioana Iorgu:
