IAMTHESHADOW, the Darkwave musical project started in 2015 by the Portuguese musician and composer Pedro Code (The Dream Collision, and Rainy Days Factory), supported by synth player Vitor J. Moreira, captures a perfect balance between shadows and light of the most atmospheric and haunting Post Punk ’80s.
The Lisbon-based act has just dropped the Official Video for “Pain Come Close”, the first single of the studio album “To End What Never Began”, scheduled for release in August 2024, via Cold Transmission Music.
Eternally haunting and introspective, “Pain Come Close” unleashes a mechanical drum machine that pulses relentlessly, cloaked in buzzing bass tones, dramatic shivering synth swirls and dim drifting forlorn melodies, atop deep emotional baritone vocals, crooning in sombre melancholic resonance layered with lost echoes.
Accompanied visuals, directed by Pedro Alves, shapeshift time and space around an intimate performance by IAMTHESHADOW to sync with the intense vulnerability of the soundtrack.
