IAMTHESHADOW, the Lisbon-based dark music brainchild of the musician and composer Pedro Code (Voices, Synths, Guitars & Programming), alongside his bandmate Vitor J Moreira (synths), drops the second single/video, “Bleed Dry”, lifted from the forthcoming album “To End What Never Began”, due out on October 18, 2024, via Cold Transmission Music, distinctive of the Portuguese band’s refined and gripping Dark Wave sound imbued with a cold, dramatic and haunting ambience, yet strewn with oneiric spirals that let seep glimmers of light in the overarching darkness.
A menace of deep pain ceaselessly churns hypnotic undulating bass lines and hypnotic thumping beats into a relentless doom, laced with sad anxious melodies, to encompass harsh heartbroken baritones and warm emotional halos, while icy solemn sweeping synth drama and immersive droning glows help shed fear into hope.
The visuals sync a Jungian dark night of the soul experience with the transformational aspect of the soundtrack. The story begins on the beach with Pedro Code suffering from a psychological trauma that leads him to burn a mysterious letter. Then, the scenes shift back and forth between the seashore and a surreal Matrix-like urban setting where parallel timelines unleash streams of ghostly figures. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, bandmate Vitor J Moereira appears as a supportive friend and, after the insanity subsides, they share a full moon reflection.
IAMTHESHADOW‘s upcoming album “To End What Never Began”, is scheduled for release, in Vinyl 12″ /CD & Digital formats, on October 18, 2024, via the German independent label Cold Transmission Music.
