The Dark Alternative music project of French songwriter, musician, singer and painter, Hurlenoir, has just dropped an evocative video for the emotional track “1993”, taken from the upcoming album “ACHROMARIA” due out on August 13, 2021, via Les Revers de l’Âme Productions, to awaken feelings, trigger emotions, and arouse the viewer to confront their own conditions using Post-Punk / Dark Rock-infused melancholic atmospheres, expressionist writings, and universal symbolic imagery.
Sinuous energetic bass pulsations and off-tempo punchy beats chug ominously under the searing pain of restrained abrasive riffs and urgent, piercing guitar lines, gathering strength and distortion to conceal the intense French male vocals releasing secret shame and anxiety into the truculent rhythms of remorse, anger, and revenge to disrupt a doorway to the past, where lyrics contemplate an alternate existence.
The hypnotic DIY video blends intimate home VHS clips with French Archival footage from the year “1993” to travel backward through time. Waxy red flowers alternate with dismal black and white urban scenes brought to life by a heady reverse flow of motion, allowing demolished structures to rise from dusty debris and raindrops to ascend from muddy puddles. Vintage architectures, vehicles, and fashion call back to childhood visions, when the mind’s eye of imagination imprints memories like tears to reflect yesterday’s destruction.
