Video of the Day HOLOGRAPH
Holograph, the Post Wave four-piece band based in Amsterdam, led by the Cape Town, South Africa-born founding members Warren Fisher (Guitar) and Ines Southscka (Vox & Synth), joined by local Dutch musicians Calvin Siderfin (Bass), and Lewis Kerins (Drums), returns to WL//WH with an Official Music Video directed by Ines Soutschka & Mark Roush for “Open Your Eyes”, the third song on the latest 5-track “The Manor” EP, via the Netherlands’ independent label The Good Times Co.
A song about living in darkness, without even knowing it, until one day, with the help of a whisper, you open your spiritual eyes and see the truth,
“Open Your Eyes” explores haunting arpeggiated cinematic folksy realms coasting the edges of Gothic and Progressive Rock, etched by dire pain-filled guitar riffs and resonant epic wails, underpinned by trudging drum beats and sinuously humming bass lines, to sway and wind around ominous, fearful spoken words, and tragic ghastly cries, to bring forth feelings of angst, melancholy, and oppressive doom.
The Official Music Video for “Open Your Eyes”, directed by Ines Soutschka and Mark Roush, takes place in Amsterdam at the Het Salon to set a nightmare-ish backdrop for Warren Fisher, who stars as a man battling his dark side. The cinematography by Mark Roush is simply fantastic and looks like a classic horror film. The clip is built on the notion of a man being tied in a basement with a professional knife-wielding psycho preparing to torture him. Although not at first obvious, it becomes known that the predator and the victim are one and the same. Be sure to check out the adrenaline fueled finale to see who gains control in this epic good vs. evil battle.
