On December 14, the incredibly talented darkwave act Grey Gallows (Patras, GR), already recognized by the European dark alternative front for their captivating sound and mesmerizing performances, published the official video for their song “Sad Wings of Destiny” featured in their latest “DUNKELHEIT” LP through Cold Transmission Music. In their decade of existence, Grey Gallows has achieved some remarkable things through their music.
They have released singles and albums that have received exceptional reviews from the dedicated media, and have performed on stage so often that they now feel at home there. The imposing darkwave they create is now at the forefront of the Greek dark alternative music scene, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
For their latest album, they focused exclusively on electronic sound, utilizing both analogue and digital synthesizers, as they aimed to expand their musical boundaries into various sounds and styles.
In “Sad Wings of Destiny,” the darkness persists, and the cold becomes harsher. We live in an era of disrespect and anxiety, where destiny lies before us, and perhaps escape is impossible.
In the Official Video, created by Irini Sina with Jeanne Chérel, with special thanks to Delia Barrón & Théo Sahin, beautiful and symbolic imagery of birds flying overlies a person who stands in deep contemplation against an urban backdrop. Strategic editing uses split screen, inverted reflections of birds in varying states of existence, and suggestive lights and shadows to bring forth the desolation of the soundtrack.
