Patras-based Greek Darkwave duo Konstantin (vocals /keys) and Dionisis (guitar /bass /keys) AKA Grey Gallows return with an ominous warning in their latest video, by Panos Kekesis (KENO team), for the dark dancing track “Chains” taken from the latest Cold Transmission Music label’s compilation “Spotlight Vol. 2.”
Modern dystopic lyrics dive into a heady chasm of man vs. machine, self-imprisonment, and deception of the masses to draw poignant thought forms from the timeless hands of systemic oppression.
“Chains” opens cold, ancient menacing auras to invoke sinister vibrations, obsessive pounding beats, and warm fluid synth waves from apocalyptic pain-filled dominions, to possess haunted, emotional baritone omens with mental bondage and perpetual suffering whilst brittle tinkling icy bright stabs puncture the transformative expansions with tyranny and lies using a mystical, magnetic force of absurd falsities and dark, dancing machinations.
Graffiti strewn architectures open the mind’s eye into an introspective journey where foreboding smoke signals, shape-shifting shadows, and symbolic imagery harness fear, sadness, and desolation. Eternal embers of isolation and gloom overlay an intimate performance set against an eerie urban backdrop of psychic decay, to erode all semblance of civilization into a rotting dread. Sun cast dreams to shine small slivers of hope through split-screen photography to reveal cool, majestic mountaintops, hellish flaming fires, and ambiguous twilight horizons left working behind the scenes of universal enlightenment.
