Video Of The Day GOODBYE WUDAOKOU
Goodbye Wudaokou, the DIY Indie Rock solo project of Manchester, UK based Matt Mills, heralds a forthcoming sophomore album via Subjangle with the first excerpt “Only Questions”, a “jangly, fizzy and very poppy love song about the vitality and loss of first loves” pulling glimmers of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, The Wedding Present, New Order and Sonic Youth.

Steady hopping drum patterns and fuzzy pulsing basslines ride a slightly strident and abrasive jingling of ringing guitar riffs, coursed with forlorn, icy fluid synths, to sprawl over heartbroken male vocals, mourning with sad female echoes, to conjure the melancholy, regret, and questioning that forever follows the loss of a first love.
The Official Video for “Only Questions” was directed and edited by Jonathan Shipley of Assistant, and filmed by Mat Mills himself and Desiree Xu in Manchester, Beijing (Wudaokou) and Harbin. Goodbye Wudaokou plays guitar and sings while wearing a NY Mets cap and Sonic Youth t-shirt in a bedroom studio under electric stars. Heart-warming, young childhood memories combine with clips of the Chinese Wudaokou city area itself and some views of the sun on the horizon, stirring the soul with the nostalgia, joy, and sadness of the lovelorn soundtrack.
Keep with Goodbye Wudaokou:
