Two years after the mesmerizing debut album “Burden”, Wroclaw, Poland’s Shoegaze / Dark Post-Punk unit Give Up To Failure return to deliver the first slab of the band’s distinctive ‘gloomy heaviness and alluring darkness’ with a new single “Slow Collapse”, from the soon-to-be-announced sophomore LP, blending soul-stirring instrumentation with Ben’s (of Imitation Zone) other-worldly back-up vocals, to invoke a lovelorn ritual of sorrow, accompanied by a conceptual video by Matt Cardinal (Bird Sounds).
A confession of anger, obsession, and dread leads to a romantic declaration of comfort where unity is essential lest it all collapses.
Haunting yet cathartic, “Slow Collapse” injects eerie slow-burning doom through a seething concoction of buzzing bassline menace, ominous rumbling drum beats, icy synth flitters, shivering jarring frequencies, and poignant twinkling resonant guitar melodies, hypnotically carrying haunted, pain-filled vocals brimming with tension, fright, and cold obsessive epic chants into a restrained, tumultuous riff-fueled catharsis of illuminated fate.
Abstract video by Matt Cardinal liquifies grey skies into a neon fused fantasy of shapeshifting visions. Distorted filters, Psychedelic overlays, and slowed flows of motion transform suggestive imagery into a limbonic realm of timeless transitions where primal energies and enhanced perceptions allow the viewer to manifest trauma-induced thought forms into a beautiful melancholy of healing reflections.
