Dallas, Texas-based Industrial/EBM ‘existential sludge pop’ duo Gillian Dream close the year with an Official Video for “Tisiphone,” taken from the end of 2024 five-track EP “Bijou,” via Memory Terminal Records.
A heady off-kilter percussive-heavy number bounces seamlessly on rattling disjointed rolls of crisp, hard-knocking polyrhythm patterns and sonorous stuttering bass grooves, churning underneath an oddball construct of muffled echoes, and shivering synth expansions, whilst brazen surreal spoken words, amid ephemeral bouts of indecipherable, smothered female vocals, talk about being led astray by dreams.
In the DIY visuals, an autumn leaf-strewn wooded area sets the backdrop for Gillian Dream as they perform “Tisiphone” under an array of symbolic filters. Inverted light, fisheye lens, and fragmented identities are some of the strategies deployed to display the warped psychological dimension of the song.
