WL//WH Video Of The Day : Gerard Ryan ‘Patrik’

Video Of The Day

It’s professor and synthesizer day at WL//WH today, after Jason Sloan/L’Avenir, here is Limerick, Ireland-native and Barcelona-based Gerard Ryan, another anologue and vintage modular synth fanatic and Professor of marketing and consumer behaviour at the Rovira I Virgili University in Barcelona.

In the last year, when not working on his brilliant main project influenced by the late 70’s and early 80’s European synth-pop called Le Cliché with releases on Medical Records LLC, Cold Beats Records, Sincronica, TONN Recordings and his own Manufactured Desire Records, he uses his real name as alter ego for music inspired by the sounds of ‘minimal elektronisch’ from the early 80s.

In ‘Patrik’ throbbing, pulsing beats, funk electro-minimalist warbles, some blurs of acid are thrown in to provide a free-flowing abstract and futuristic soundscape in which emotion and technology interact to perfection.

Check out the more than appropriate fine footage made of a quick slideshow of vintage synthesizer manuals from Casio, Moog, Yamaha, Korg and beyond.

Keep up with Gerard Ryan/Le Cliché :
