WL//WH Video Of The Day: GARÇON SAUVAGE “Oseras-tu?”

Video Of The Day  Garçon Sauvage

Garçon Sauvage is a French nuanced Cold Wave duo started in 2021 by singer and DJ Fred Kaporal with composer and electronic musician Gérald, former members of synth-driven Nantes bands DoggerlandTabloïd and Caporal.

In anticipation of a September 2024 remix EP with fellow Nantais musicians, namely Phil Tremble, Paulette Sauvage, Prinzessin, OR’L, Projet Marina and Photo, that will deliver their own signature version of the same track via the cassette micro label Dino Disco Lazer, a video directed by Astrid Serafini for the lead song “Oseras-tu” releases.

Garçon Sauvage talks about the carelessness of a first date in the bustling stupor of night bars where bodies are discovered in the night crowd. A magnetic attraction under the magic glow of the moon leads to a flirtation on the dancefloor, if you dare?.

“Oseras-tu” is a strobing slightly off-kilter electro-wave dance number that drives ominously prowling and buzzing bass pulses along with crackling, and crispy mechanical rhythmic patterns under a mesmeric chiming constellation of angsty, icy, and warped synth plucks, to encompass discreet, urgent vocals and harsh whispers, with the heavy soaked intoxication of a discotheque romance.

The video, shot on location at Le Chien Stupid in Nantes by director Astrid Serafini stars Fred Kaporal, Théophile Chenière, Joséphine and Joseph as a nightclub crew, serving up drinks, entertainment, and drama to the attendees. You might notice a cool astrology shirt by Chakra Noir as the experience unfolds, bringing forth the notion of fate under the nostalgic disco ball reflections.
