WL//WH Video Of The Day: FRETT “End Beginning” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  FRETT

Since 2020, Maciek Frett (Job Karma, Wroclaw industrial festival curator), a longtime stalwart of the independent music scene in Wrocław, Poland for around three decades, has been creating, under the moniker of Frett, a raw palette of analog sounds based on old-school industrial and tribal techno dance rhythms, punctuated by retrofuturist synth melodies, the soulless vocals of Anna Frett, and elements of noise and ambient.

The Polish act just released a supernatural video by Maciej Migas and Marcin Wiktorski for “End Beginning”, the industrial-charged, both cold and robotic, final synth-laden track of Frett’s sophomore album, “Nottwo”, a co-release between the renowned German label Ant-Zen and Polish imprint Gusstaff Records. The LP explores dualism as a way of perceiving and perhaps coming to grips with reality.

“I WAS ALWAY HERE I WILL STAY FOREVER FOREVER… THERE IS NO END AND NO BEGINNING FOREVER…

Cold, stark, and ritually hypnotic, Anna Frett’s prominent emotionless vocals deliver an esoteric mantra, surrounded by a minimal soundscape of dark heart bass pulses, light lashing beats, and an array of icy sinister synth strains, swarming and expanding amid distorted hellish echoes, into an ominous martial tapping ending, left deadly silent.

Dramatic black and white visuals by Maciej Migas and Marcin Wiktorski capture a ghostly ceremony set against a dungeon backdrop to give an aesthetic vision to the poetry of the soundtrack. A spiritual ethos brought to sight with strobing lights, grey smoky mists, and a symbolic altar show the dark beauty of an intimate death/rebirth ritual.
