Video Of The Day Forty Winks
Emerging from Pittsburgh, PA‘s vibrant DIY music scene, the up-and-coming experimental Indie Rockers Forty Winks, comprised of Cilia Catello (Bass, Vocals), Conner McGee (Guitar, Vocals), Colin Klink (Drums), and Kyuhwan “Q” Hwang (Guitar, Engineering, Mixing), have shared an Official Video for “liadfh,” the opening track from the simultaneously released debut EP “Love Is A Dog From Hell”, via Crafted Sounds, inspired by Charles Bukowski eponymous book of poetry.
The young band is forging a distinct path in contemporary rock. Combining intricate mathy riffs with sharp, zoomed production, they cultivate a dynamic and noisy sound that pushes the boundaries of modern guitar music.
A pensive, restrained cacophony fusing dense, gritty and lacerated guitar textures with restless and wistful lyrical vibrancy, through a noisy, misty flowing wall of screeching and droning distortion and nervous, gurgling bass pulses, sets an immersive backdrop for sad, dreamy female vocals, layering angsty whispery breaths with low soothing echoes to express “what it feels like to be a shoulder for someone who can’t give you the same support.”
The Official Music Video creates a visual picture board that shows different screens of Forty Winks playing and singing “liadfh”. Placed amongst the musical windows, lyrical imagery blends with suggestive symbolism, quaint city views, and lovable animals to sync seamlessly with the soundtrack.
Forty Winks‘ debut EP, “Love Is a Dog From Hell,” is out now on Jewel Case CD, Cassette Tape, and Digital Formats via Crafted Sounds.
