Video Of The Day ETERNAL GARDENS
We start the new year with the symbolic video for the last end of 2023’s Goth Folk-tinged macabre self-actualization single, “Dead People”, from Parisian “Third World Surf Music” solo act, Eternal Gardens.
The French musician debuted last October with the 6-track “Roots EP”, delivering an equally eerie, reflective, and gloomy, vaguely exotic, lo-fi combination of Cold / Dark Wave, Post-punk, and Folk elements, made of effect-filled twangy guitars, hypnotic repetitive percussive patterns and reverb-drenched restless haunted vocals.
Melancholic, with doomy undertones and flutters of hope, “Dead People” fuses obsessive ringing and echoing guitar tones with ceremonial acoustic strums, resonant pinpoint bass vibrations, glassy synth shivers, and rolling hollow percussions, whilst sincere heartfelt vocals struggle with an unexpected rebirth after dreaming of death.
DIY visuals capture the aesthetic beauty and fascination of graveyard statuaries to sync with the spiritualism of the soundtrack. Shifting shades of shadows and sunlight shroud symbolic poses, religious icons, occult glyphs, and winged angels in varying degrees of lifelike clarity to invoke the grace, strength, and comfort of timeless inspirational archetypes.
