Video Of The Day ESCARLATINA OBSESSIVA
Hailing from São Thomé das Letras in South-Eastern Brazil, the creative DIY Goth Post-Punk unit, Escarlatina Obsessiva, comprised of Karolina Escarlatina (vocals and bass) and Zaf EO (guitar, keyboards and drum machine), return with a hallucinatory video to accompany the new single, inspired by the NYC serial killer, “Son Of Sam”, the second foretaste from the studio album, “Goths From Hell”, soon to be released via São Paulo‘s label Deepland Records.
Lyrically, “Son of Sam” dives into the psychological masquerade and warped narcissism displayed by the infamous serial killer set against the alive crime scene of NYC.
Dark, smokey and jazzy cave vibes unfurl in a lithe secretive walking bassline pulsing with lurking menace, pierced by sinisterly obsessive grinding guitar riffs, and smooth groovy swinging drum beats, to carry bewitching female vocal layerings of cold conviction and dramatic flair into a dangerous and evocative realm of gritty implications.
Blood-stained lights spotlight a shadowy performance whilst seedy urban areas strewn with graffiti and decay take the viewer back to the year 1976 when NYC’s infamous serial killer David Berkowitz AKA Son Of Sam began a year long murder spree wrought with satanic obsessions. Retro news clips and crime scene footage elicit morbid curiosity amid smoky lysergic airs, occult symbols, and split-screen innuendos to dive deeper into the metaphysical motivation behind a ritualistic killer’s deranged mindset.
