Emke is the experimental solo moniker of Hungarian singer & songwriter and one half of synth-noir duo Black Nail Cabaret, Emese Árvai-Illés.
“Mambo”, from her last December “Two” EP on the legendary Attrition‘s Two Gods label, is like a sublime and impressionist little darkly sonic palette interspersed with spectral abstract electronic colours and ethnic samples, enhanced by the sophisticated and distinctive Emke‘s deep voice, evoking her deep, soul-rending ‘appetite for sadness’; a fascinating, dark and magic atmosphere of melancholy, unease and anguish, that will dazzle and left you spellbind.
