Video Of The Day ELVIS DE SADE
Munich-based, German post-punk, wave and gothic rock band ELVIS DE SADE release a new music video for the song “Sorrows Vanish These Nights”, taken from last December debut 5-track EP “Angelus Novus”, on Vinyl 12″ & Digital, via Young & Cold Records (buy here).
Illustrative of the band’s equal part powerful, yet atmospheric dark coldwave sound, “Sorrows Vanish These Nights” uncoils sparkling crystalline guitar strings that twinkle perilously amid hypnotic tapping and stomping snare beats, chugging between the eerie chime of bright icy notes and warm sinister synth sways, while menacing bassline creeps and oscillates around the grave, hesitant male vocals quivering in fearful, heartfelt recollections encompassed in a commemorative speech discussing “the gift of Love.”
Romantic lyrical moments recall a magical and intimate time lost in another’s love, when kisses, laughter, and dancing filled the air with an intense passion.
An emotive video, camera & editing by Cosima Weiske, about past and present memories, performed by frontman Leo Schild on the shore of Lake Wessling in upper Bavaria, across from the famous Alzheimer Villa, captures the majestic energy of the area with panoramic shots cast in muted hues, time-lapse photography, and soul-stirring overlays. Candid black and white outdoor footage alternate with introspective silhouettes coloured in the shimmering motion of green waves, with disturbing shadows transitioned into dizzying treetop swirls. Conflicting feelings of fortune and loss arising from the fanciful allure of the dramatic “James Dean” brooding look, as the shift in momentum ushers in a breath-taking beauty and sorrow in the form of a cleansing rain, leaving the antagonist unaware of a missing reality where sheer magic and deep awareness lie.
