Initially influenced by 80’s post-punk, the now Bratislav-based five-piece Elections In The Deaftown have gradually evolved their fine brand of ‘honest’, a word they’ve always underlined, mainly guitar driven post-punk, with shoegaze undertones, ‘coming from two little villages in the heart of Slovakia‘, fully fullfilled in their excellent end of 2015 debut ‘Glue’, increasingly adding electronic elements until the present-day genuine, elegant and sparkling synthesized dreampop.
‘Plane Crash’, taken from last November EP ‘Minutiae’, is an atmospheric and immersive hypnotic swirl of mesmerizing, evocative layers of hazy and flashing synths and shimmering guitars lines, deftly underpinned by melodic soothing vocals and suspended-in-space beats, to craft a never redundant but highly effective, enveloping and sinuous, subtly restless, arcane soundscape laced with melancholy, nostalgia and sheer emotions.
