Dramatics is a Spanish Dream Pop/Shoegaze musical collective started in 2022 by four renowned veteran musicians and stalwarts of the Madrid Indie scene, led by the classically trained multi-instrumentalist Eva Martinez (Operacion Johnathan, Criando Malvas, Zeroline, Lost Secrets), alongside guitarists Vincent Martin (Popdata, Lost Secrets) and J Aranda (Slots, Sucubo, Lost Secrets), plus the heartbeats provided by drummer Andy Martin (GIT, Popdata).
Influenced by spearhead bands such as Mazzy Star, Mojave 3 and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the Shoegazing melancholic dreamers drop a music video for their recent debut single, “Wait For Me”, giving us a sense of the forthcoming EP, “Slide Waves,” due June 2025.
Equally dreamy and wistful, “Wait for Me”, grounded by the continuos churning of slow, dragging drum beats and humming bass pulses, unfolds and meanders on a lush, effervescent, vaguely psychedelic, tapestry, sculpted by the seamless resonant weaving of sparkling guitar chimes, sharply swirling and reflectively expanding, to engulf sad yet hopeful female vocals in a vibrant wave after wave of uplifting and immersive sensations.
The paired visuals star Maria Jose Garcia and Felipe de Nicolas as a couple who must patiently wait for Fate to take hold so they can meet for drinks at The 33 Irish Tavern in Madrid. Vintage sunburnt rehearsal clips of the Dramatics playing “Wait For Me” shuffle through the storyline to give hope to what would have otherwise seemed like a doomy missed encounter.
