WL//WH Video Of The Day: DOGGERLAND “Dead End”

Video Of The Day Doggerland

Hailing from Nantes, France electro trio Doggerland have just released the video for the track “Dead End”, taken from the band’s latest EP “Foreign Eyes”.

In the band’s distinctive dark electroclash style with post-punk and darkwave undertones, “Dead End” kicks off with ominous droning synth notes that collapse down jagged treacherous pulsing bassline mixed with urgent propulsive beats, as stark, breathless vocals anxiously fear uncontrolled magnetism and allure, creating a dangerous dance rhythm echo erupting industrial static, amid driving rousing intensity and incandescent glimmers.

Cryptic lyrics unveil obsessive compulsions disguised as hypnotic thought, using blame cast on another to travel  down the destructive path found in a “dead end.”

Enigmatic black and white video, directed by T. B. W., divided into mini-chapters, unfolds using split-screen imagery to slice, dissect, and mutate circumstances and characters into an alternate reality. Graveyards, shadows, and skulls set a macabre mood, while out of order sequences spin a demented psychological vibe down the never-ending cycle of disillusionment.
