WL//WH Video Of The Day: DAYS OF SORROW “Tears” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  Days of Sorrow

Established in 1983, Days of Sorrow  is a veteran iconic Post Punk / Dark Wave band from Dortmund, Germany, who you might remember from the 1984 cult classic “Wild World.”

The group split up in 1987 with two EP’s, “Remembering the Days” via Tollhaus Records, and “A 1000 Faces” via Rough Trade, under their belt,  and in 2022, after a long hiatus, teen schoolmates and founding members William Lennox (Vocals) and Andre Schreiber (Bass, Guitars) joined temporarily with their friend and former producer Frank Junge (keys), to release the eagerly anticipated debut studio album “Soulmate Sister.”

While working on two vinyl EPs, set to be released later this year, that ‘promise to be a compelling collection of new material that continues to explore the band’s iconic themes of love, loss, and longing’, Days of Sorrow drop the new single “Tears”, accompanied by an Official Video to introduce their new bandmate Kati von Schlotterstein.

We wanted to create a song that speaks to the enduring human experience of heartache and hope, “Tears” is a testament to our journey as a band and our connection with our audience. It’s about finding beauty in the midst of pain and using music as a means to heal.says lead vocalist William Lennox

Lyrically, about wanting to comfort a loved one who is suffering inside, “Tears” compels piercing, effect-filled, guitar atmospherics, to softly glisten and brightly ring over a steady foundation of hypnotic throbbing bass oscillations and a crisp, marching drum programming, whilst distressed emotional vocals sway between moody episodes of helpless doom and swirling confusion.

From a strobing misty discotheque to the wild and dusty German countryside, Sebastian Luigs shoots “Days of Sorrow” as they perform “Tears” while dressed in stylish black-clad fashions against a variety of evocative backdrops. Picturesque adventure clips show the trio wandering with cute canines through an enchanted green forest under a surreal sunlight, to sync symbolically with the soundtrack.

Be sure to catch Days of Sorrow this Saturday, 24th of August, at Berlin‘s Urban Spree, as part of the Mots Music X Anniversary lineup.
