WL//WH Video Of The Day: DARKO’S AUFHEBUNG “Euler Fucked My Life”

WL//WH Video Of The Day  Darko’s Aufhebung

Hailing from Aix-en-Provence in the South of France, the Shoegaze trio Darko’s Aufhebung is back on track, since their 2021 debut full-length LP “Spread Whispers Into Blazing Dawns”, with the first excerptEuler Fucked My Life, paired with a DIY video clip, lifted from the forthcoming sophomore album, “Loud Attempts for the Relieving of Death”, mixed by Jeff Zeigler at Uniform Recording (Philadelphia, USA) and mastered by Fabian Tormin of Plätlin Mastering (Hamburg, Germany), scheduled for release at the end of March 2025.

The lyrics poetically describe how being a slave to numbers can lead to a lack of creativity and ultimately meaninglessness.

Reminiscent of the fragmented/fuzzy mercurial vibes of early Drop Nineteens and the usual MBV, “Euler Fucked My Life” ignites rapidly shifting, at times splattering, drumming, and lively warm bass tones to pulse steadily below slightly dissonant, erratic and ringing guitar scrapes, interspersed with bursts of droning glows and woozy glistening introspections, as dreamy sad vocals release long drawn out breaths of angst into the turbulent sway of distortion.

The DIY visuals shuffle Darko’s Aufhebung’s candid ‘holiday in Japan’ memories with footage from their tour last September while an array of playful editing techniques brings forth a colorful lysergic vibe. Amid the coy ponds and striking Japanese architectures, glimpses of the band peek through to give an intimate, heartwarming connection to the soundtrack.
