Video Of The Day Cerulean Veins
San Diego, California based dynamic husband and wife duo, Dustin Frelich & Amanda Toombs AKA Cerulean Veins are going to follow their 2020 LP, “Blue”, with their fourth studio album “Black” via Cold Transmission with 10 tracks lyrically focused on life, death, love, and what it means to be human.
The first foretaste, “Love Won’t Save Us Now”, hones in on the love aspect of this theme as it dwells in the sentiments of a troubled romantic relationship, where an angsty soul struggles with doubt as healing takes hold.
Distinctive of the band’s sleek, vibrant, and shimmering brand of ’80s-flecked melodic Post-punk clad in gothic shades of sulking darkness, ceaselessly able to creep inexorably under the skin as their name suggests, the new single instantly immerses in a blast of dramatic moods, by igniting relentless sharp guitar riffs, scraping and jagged strains laced with blinding surges, underpinned by thumping drum beats and urgent lithe bassline throbs, vibrating and overflowing with toxic sways of desperate emotions while rugged anxious vocal broods tear adoration and desire into a hopeless jigsaw puzzle for a broken heart.
The nostalgic visuals capture the obsession and dread of the soundtrack by constructing a computer-generated space-age set full of retro-modern fascinations. Geometric neon planes expand into depth-defying cubes of red and blue mental prisons to cage a disconnected lover whose fear of moving forward keeps him lost in the outer realms of distorted perceptions.
Cerulean Veins‘ 4th full-length album, “Black”, is slated for release, in ltd. Vinyl 12″/CD/Cassette & Digital formats, on February 14, 2023 via Cold Transmission Music.
