WL//WH Video Of The Day: CELLULE 34 “Defeat of Will”

Video Of The Day Cellule 34

Brussels’ record label Red Maze Records has finally released, Vinyl 12″ & Digital, the third volume of “My Precious! – A Waves Radio Show Compilation Vol.3” collection, compiled by Fernando Wax and Blackmarquis, hosts of Radio Vibration’s WAVES Radio show, with a selection of new, exclusive and unreleased tracks from favourite bands and artists in the wave/synth/electro styles.

Almost simultaneously has also been shared a darkly intimate video for the esoteric track “Defeat of Will” from minimal coldwave/synthpop solo project and Red Maze Records ‘abituè’, based in Bruxelles, Cellule 34 [Cellule Trente quatre] with previous releases on Spielzeug Muzak, Peace and Noise, and Modern Tapes.

Oscillating bass line menace pulses with obsessively repetitive, lashing drum beats and shrill, sinister glaring synth melodies, while dry abrasive guitar strains mash the scrunchy textures around curt, anxious male vocal’s lustily releasing toxic defiance into the alarming drone of inebriated, tension-filled rhythms.

Confessional lyrics reveal the confusing and awkward moment that occurs during the course of awakening when one longs for the vice and perversion of an alternate reality.

Dark, dank surroundings form a bleak portrait of life in the fast lane with mannequins holding cardboard cut out instruments to perform a boozy basement gig. Bizarre time-lapse motion blends red and blue filters over paper dolls engaged in glitchy dance sequences and bizarre costume changes while blurry zoom lens transitions create a liquor-infused disruption tinged in bloody eyes and phony smiles flashing in sync with the panic-inducing soundtrack to create eerie, mind-boggling dimensions drenched in isolating mania and demented fear.
