WL//WH Video of the Day: CAPITOL “Crooked Knees” (Official Music Video)

Video of the Day  CAPITOL

Capitol,  the Canadian five piece Indie band from Hamilton, made up of Josh Kemp (Vocals/Synth), Robert J. Kemp (Guitar), Wes Lintott (Guitar) Matt Lintott (Drums), and Chris McLaughlin (Bass), returns to WL//WH with the Official Video by Black Lake for “Crooked Knees”, the second single from Capitol’s sophomore studio album “Sounds Like a Place,” due out on November 8, 2024 via Spanish independent label  Meritorio Records.

With “Crooked Knees” we wanted to blend levels of darkness and lightness, so we aimed to have these warm highs and dreary lows; both lyrically and instrumentally. And from these contrasts, we also tried to challenge ourselves with the overall structure; rearranging verses and choruses atypically.

Crooked Knees” is about how the outside world, relationships, and personal decisions will shape who you become.

A bright, reflective moment of time imbues the sharp resonances of vibrant sparkling guitar melodies, anchored by crisp steadfast drum beats and humming basslines, to sway along with shimmery strums and emotive synth glows around layers of angsty heartfelt and soft baritone vocals, flowing in a cathartic cascade of insight.

The official video by Black Lake shapeshifts Capitol, while the lyrics for Crooked Knees appear at the top of the screen. If you stare at the image long enough, you can make out the individual translucent overlays of each member being superimposed on top of each other. The effect is an eerie ghost-like amalgamation that syncs seamlessly with the vocal harmonies of the soundtrack.

Keep up with Capitol:
