Louisville, Kentucky Darkwave project by Kim Bell, Broken Nails, mainly created with a minimal set-up of analogue synthesizers and drum machines, has dropped an intoxicating video for the electronically charged number “Sovereign”, to coincide with the release of her 9-track debut album “Overcome”, produced by Valerio Rivieccio (Kurs, The Coventry), via Swiss Dark Nights Label.
Enveloping and booming 80s vibes mechanically wind airy, buzzing, undulating bass line, driving scratchy off-tempo beats, and icy chiming, swooping synth riffs around cool, aloof female vocals powerful release of strength and wisdom, refusing oppression and domination in order to maintain independence, within spiralling seismic propulsion of arousing synthetic bliss.
Retro modern video creates a fragmented reality cast in Nagel-esque beauty with an edgy attitude to boot. Blue and pink auras highlight stunning platinum blonde waves around dramatic makeup and hip wardrobe, while editing techniques reflect kaleidoscopic imagery under ominous shadows zooming at warp speed motion through a high energy performance that will leave you breathless.
Broken Nails‘ debut album “Overcome”, on 12″ Clear Vinyl, CD & Digital, is out now through Swiss Dark Nights Label.
