Video Of The Day Blyski
The blurred Polish Noir Darkwave act based in Gdańsk, BŁYSKI has paired the recently released debut 5-track EP “Reflektor,” with an Official Video created by Michał Daschke for the surreal and erratic “Bramy”.
“Bramy / Gates” is a song about how being suddenly struck by an inner demon, when you’re feeling good, can cause a lot of moody disruptions. It builds eerie and ominous auras, shifting back and forth between a menacing swell of urgent thumping beats, bouncy and rolling droning bass pulses, and insistent sinister guitar squeals, to stretch in a dire flickering emotional space cast in vibrant low key yet off-kilter blurry synth sheets and sad weeping 6-string reverberations, while dramatic vocals sync with the instrumentation to sway to and from harsh bestial whispers to haunted pain-filled cries.
In the Official Video by Michał Daschke, hard-to-see footage of urban architectures strobes hypnotically with the sentiments of the soundtrack. At times, the use of negative light photography makes the scenery look like an X-ray. Then, during the calmer segments of the song, surreal colors start to bleed through to evoke mixed feelings of fear, beauty, melancholy, and hope. There is a lot going on symbolically, too. Near the end, a trail of little white lights leads the way out of some sort of imprisonment, signified by a grey barbed wire.
