Video Of The Day BLOOD RELATIONS
Blood Relations, the Gothic Post-Punk musical project created by the Albuquerque, New Mexico-based multi-instrumentalist, film composer and experimental visual artist E.K. Wimmer, returns with another captivating DIY Official Video for “Crack the Sky”, the first single from the forthcoming third album, “Drain The Light.”
The poignant, heartfelt and brooding, “Crack the Sky” unwinds a slinky, melodic, post-punk bassline, underlined by taut, punchy drums, that pulses and wanders somberly along with dry, brittle, sad guitar riffs, intermittently shifting to nervously ringing, searing aching rips, and hopeless heartrending, synth-laced, surges over pain-filled emotional male vocals, layered with shrill quivers, musing on a change in the body that causes everything to look faded.

The Official Video, filmed, edited, and directed by E.K. Wimmer himself, to capture hints of an old 80s late-night public access show vibe, begins with a 3D skull spinning over an old dusty road at night, setting the stage for a ritual in the desert. Blood Relations dances in a skeleton mask and gloves, reminiscent of the Misfits, against a red backdrop with an emphasis on his hands. An invisible force spins a knife and places droplets of blood in a circle around it. Then, wind-up teeth sing and make stop-gap animation formations before inverted light symbolism covers the flame of a white candle, syncing seamlessly with the distorted perception mentioned in the lyrics.
