Video of the Day Black Rose Moves
Building on the momentum of last year’s critically acclaimed debut EP “Death Dance,” the Birmingham, UK Goth Rockers Black Rose Moves, made of frontman Grant Leon and multi-instrumentalist Mark Neat, return with “If I Was Here,” their most cinematic single so far, fusing haunting melodies and brooding rhythms, with soulful and visceral Morrison-esque vocals.
An intense, dark and emotional brood weaves jagged obsessive guitar melodies and sharp echo-y ripples with layers of ghostly, shivering keyboards, through a steady foundation of gloomy, wobbling bass lines, and mid-tempo hypnotic drum patterns, to stir up powerful, haunted baritone vocals, insatiably longing to dance with a lost loved one.
The visuals for “If I Was Here” use vintage black and white clips of intimate family moments at home and on vacation to sync with the nostalgia of the soundtrack. Take a walk down memory lane to the 1950s to see the fashion, cars, and leisurely activities engaged in by our ancestors.
