WL//WH Video Of The Day: BIBO AND BEYOND “Tide of Fear”

Video Of The Day  Bibo and Beyond

Blending haunting Darkwave and minimal Post Punk infused with a hefty dose of Noise, Electronica and Industrial clangor, the Italo-Polish trio based in Milan, follow last March’s “Underneath” EP with the new DIY single/video, Tide of Fear.”

Stark and sinister, “Tide of Fear” propels a mechanical conveyor belt of a nerve-rattling punchy basslines along with urgent thumping snares beneath dire, skewed guitar melodies, turning to intervals of loud, harsh squalls amidst dejected, lost female vocals, cloaked by treacherous swelling synths, hopelessly waiting in the darkness for an insistent, reassuring male chant, “The time has come. You are my light.”

Layers of conflicting sceneries overlay each other whilst glitchy, transformative editing creates an opening to a cathartic flow. The video begins in a colorless wooded area where a graffiti-strewn shut door beckons to be opened. A vigorous stream rushes behind a closed curtain, a cyber green cube, and gradient color lines reminiscent of an old television set, to suggest a disconnection from a vital force is at play.
