Fresh authors of a vibrant and rowdy debut EP replete with frantic energy and edgy intensity, although still not a finished product, with at least two tracks, “Cr è ve mes yeux” and “Sonne en moi”, absolutely compelling, French Cold Wave/Post-Punk act Beverly Hate drops a suggestive video for the stirring new track “Je te défis | I Challenge You” via Angers based label March3noir.
“Beverly is a fictional character born in the 2000s who refuses the established order in almost all areas and endowed with a sickly admiration for Paris Hilton. His meeting with Hate, a sandwich man working on the corner of his street, will change their lives forever.”
The urgent arousing “Je te défis” is propelled by steady slashing beats along taut tightly burbling basslines, and vibrant, buzzing icy bright synth melodies, to ebb and flow in angsty winding moods around romantic male/female vocals, alternating soft sensual longings with restless aching desires, slipping helplessly into swaying tides of heartfelt passions.
A short cinematic clip captures a public make-out session set against a peculiar contemporary backdrop to manifest the playful, erogenous vibes of the soundtrack. Witty humour, keen editing, and youthful energy add a flirtatious flair to a feisty adolescent couple whose street-side shenanigans take centre stage amid urban dystopic decay.
