WL//WH Video Of The Day: BELTIGS “Pelican Cove” (Official Music Video)

Video Of The Day  BELTIGS

Beltigs is a newcomer Indie Pop unit from Bandung, Indonesia whose freshly released debut single “Pelican Cove”, gifted with painstaking arrangements and refined production, speaks volumes of a band made of well-known stalwarts of the local alternative scene such as the project instigator and bassist Brez, the man behind the dynamic Lisdia Records; former Sunny Summer Day vocalist, guitarist and Beltigs’ main songwriter Ferdy Destrian; guitarist Naufal Azhari, aka Domon, one of the members of Mountain Moves, and, at last, drummer Teguh Indra Putra, once part of Perfect Angel.

An Official Music Video by INDAN GUSTIAN for Beltigs’ first entrée song inspired by a movie, gives us an endearing taste of what is to come on their debut 5-track EP, scheduled for release in late 2024 via Disaster Records.

It’s a story that relates to our lives, about someone trying to chase a dream and trying to get it. Starting from money, popularity to a place to live that we call Pelican Cove in 547 short days. With all his ambition, he lost and got nothing. Everything was in vain.says Naufal

The group sculpts a crystal-clear guitar-laced nostalgic pop sound streaked with darkly shades, whose heartfelt tribute to the classic indie/wave spearheads from the past, can be felt even New Order bents, is rejuvenated through a mesmerizing and flowing unrequited melodic take of captivating brilliance.

The track obsessively swirls intricate vibrant layers of sharp sparkling guitar melodies coloured with subtle chiming flourishes, underlaid by meandering, warmly pulsing, moody bass lines and bouncy drum beats, to radiate deep echoing wistful glows around shifting vocal harmonies, alternating restless spoken words with anxious emotional longing, losing sight of what is truly important amid thoughtlessly chasing a dream.

The Official Music Video directed by INDAN GUSTIAN presents listeners with an up-close look at the new band Beltigs as they perform their debut single, “Pelican Cove.” The significant staging of the foursome shifts in tandem with symbolic colors to evoke the psychological moods of the soundtrack.
